I think every breeder is different in what they want for the different personalities of their babies. It's possible that this lady had thought about keeping the other pup or selling him. Maybe after talking to you it hit her as the right placement for him. That would be my take on the situation. That she just hadn't made up her mind until she and you clicked. It's also possible that she had something bad happen before and she was just being careful. There are a lot of people who want the smaller and smaller and smaller dogs and then want to breed them to death. She strikes me as someone who really cares where her babies go. Now don't hold me to that because this is all based only on what you have written. I know you and she talked about a lot of things and the best advice I think anyone can give you is to take a little time and feel what your gut is telling you. Don't disect all your feelings or you will go overboard. Just try not to think about it for a while and then examine how you feel about the conversation. That should tell you if you feel that you can trust her.
