Goodness. I think I would definetly let the owner know that is not okay. She may have worked with that person for a long time, but by not saying anything everyone may be making her think that is ok. This will make her aware that we do not find that acceptable, and let her know you have been a customer for a long time but you will not support such practices.
Like mentioned before we are advocates for animals, because they can't talk. if that was my baby i would hope someone would come to her aide.
