i would try a softer brush.. start with benevolent eye contact and petting.. then use the brush.. get him calm first with eye contact.. use treats when he is relaxed.. make the grooming expereience a bonding time..
wash his face daily with a wet cloth and dry him.. this will prepare him for weekly baths.. get earth bath shampoo at petsmart.. dont give up.... 5 minutes sessions are best 3 times a day for training..
