Ok, there are many experts on here that can tell you exactly how it works but this is what I know.....the puppy gets certain immunity fighting agents (or something like that) from the mom's milk that protect the puppy and help him/her fight infection. But we don't know exactly when those immunities wear off and leave the puppy exposed to infection & disease.....while you are vaccinating during the "protected" stage the vaccinations aren't able to be effective in protecting your pup. It isn't until the mom's "goodness" wears off that the vaccinations can take effect and protect your pup. I know there is a grey area there until a certain age so they usually do a series of 4-5 sets of shots to be safe. I could have totally messed up on explaining that but I know someone on here with a lot more knowledge can explain it better and can correct me. Your vet says you are done with 3 sets of vaccinations? Hmmmmmmm.......I dunno. I think you are smart to question that.....I will be interested to see what the others say.
