could the kitty live at your house? like an outside kitty? if it is spayed or neutered it may be ok, and that way you could make sure he/she is ok and the little girl could still see it? just a thought...
I have a cat, he is an OUTSIDE cat, by choice... he came to us as an adult and does not like to be trapped inside... Me-Kitty stays right outside, has good cover and never leaves the area and he loves life.... he only comes inside when he is cold and usually only for a warm-up session...
