I would love to go so here's my opinion:
For beautiful weather you can't beat New England in the summer or Fall. It's not as expensive as California or NYC.
Boston is not that expensive and there is tons to see. Logan is a hub airport.
Portland Maine is a very dog friendly city, is inexpensive, the city is hip and funky yet there are tons of beautiful campgrounds within 15 minutes of the city. Logan would be cheaper to fly into and it's only 1.5 hours away or you could fly into Portland. That's my lobbying!!
