Some of the places mentioned have been great, but to be blunt, not everyone (including me) is going to be interested in coming to some random location where the only thing of interest is the meet up.

Seriously y'all, yeah FL is hot in the summer but almost everywhere is. Coastal Florida is actually usually cooler than most places in the summer- we are usually quite a bit cooler than my family in New York, Georgia and North Carolina. Our summers are really long but if you're near the coast it isn't awful. I also want to reiterate- we have a LOT of FL members.
Okay, enough campaigning from me, I promise.
As far as time I think the summer is the best time. For those of us with children it is the easiest time to travel and many people wouldn't use short school breaks for the meet up.
