I guess I was unclear about my financial contraints... I do have a job and know the vet bills... I'm a regular at my vets office... but I have been saving every penny I could possible save lately to put down a downpayment on my new apt! im finally in the process of buying and cannot afford to take out any money from my accnt... for financing reasons.

Im not looking for a rescue because its cheaper... I feel like I rescued Chewy from the aweful cage she was confined to in the pet store 2 years ago... I think I have spoiled her more than i ever thought was possible with a dog and I probably spend just as much money on her as I do on myself.
Im mainly looking into rescuing because ive seen so many people here save the lives of these inocent babies who dont deserve the conditions they are in. If I would have known about YT before I got Chewy, I would have rescued then as well... but you live and you learn.

Also, i like the idea of getting a puppy that isnt 8 weeks old... I want to be able to estimate the adult weight so the new puppy is similar to or larger than Chewy. She is CRAZY and doesnt stop!! If I had a 3 pounder... I would be paranoid about leaving them alone.

thank you very much for the site. Thats kinda what I was wondering.. if registering in avdance was necessary and if they contact you when they find a fit.

Im just concered about finding a reputable rescue... Not sure if thats how it works.... but you know how there are reputable breeders and then not so great ones... does it work the same with rescues? Do some care more about the dogs than others? Does anyone have any personal experience in the NYC area?
