Most dogs will not pee and poo in the same place....it's instinct I guess. I've always had good results by letting the Yorkie pick the poo places and just putting a pad there and keeping it cleaned off. Mine have always liked a little privacy too so they choose their own places not out in the open for poo places.
I'm training one now who has 3 poo places, but with age she will choose one and then go outside, so no poo places.
