My husband built mine for the stairs. I just can't see spending the money they want for these gates. We have a farmhouse so I had him use some old barn wood to make both the gate and the pen that Zoe's babies stay in. We just attached chicken wire to the boards. However, I had to then cover the chicken wire with material. We thought we bought the small holed chicken wire...but it was the big so of course the first thing the babies did...stuck their head through the holes. Now we do use a regular cheap gate with another doorway but on the stairs we needed something that would open and close. Only problem with it...its fits for a left handed person ???? We're all right....haven't said anything to him...yet!
