I use baby gates - so no help here. But my folks installed homemade, hinged, slatted, hanging baby-like gates - which lock. They are stained and finished to match the trim in the rest of the house. They look very nice and I'm sure they can be removed with just a little patch work and paint to the wall.

This is something I considered - but fortunatley, we don't need 'em now that Bailey is potty trained.
