If your dog exhibits any of the following signs: pickiness, lethargy after eating, disorientation, UTIs, dark urine, hypoglycemia, puppy that does not respond immediately to Nutri-Cal when having a hypoglycemic epidosde, etc. then a bile acid test should be done. As Ellie May described, dogs who have MVD may not exhibit symptoms until later on, so a bile acid test should be done when the dog can handle it.
I recommend that all yorkies be bile acid tested at 6 months of age even if no symptoms are apparent...If symptoms are apparent, then BAT should be done earlier...
It sounds like your baby is not exhibiting any signs.
