My drive was similar. About 3 1/2 - 4 hours long each way. I brought a carrier, a blanket, a stuffed animal, her harness and leash, water and bowl, and a towel (which came in handy because she did get sick once). I also brought my mom and a friend to help.

I was told that it's safest to keep her in her carrier. I tried, but she wanted none of it so we took turns holding her. She fell asleep on me at one point so I transferred her to the carrier and she stayed in there until she woke up.
