Here's what I do. I limit myself to two GE's a year, and I pick one during the summer when I am on summer break. During the year I stock up on goodies I've found on sale various places, or bought one of for Gizmo and grabbed an extra one at the same time. I make 70% of the gifts myself, and then order one item made just for my buddy that is personalized or something for him/her.
So, it looks like I spent a whole lot of money, but I didn't.
I still tend to go a little "GE crazy", but this way it's possible for me to participate.
Even on a budget.
