I'm glad someone bumped this. I saw it earlier and posted a question on my Alaska blog to see what people had to say. Then I couldn't find it! Here's the advice Alaska dog lovers had. They definitely know mosquitoes. I can't vouch for any of them personally, but the people who offered the advice are knowledgeable dog people.

* Burts Bees

* K-9 Advantix

* Eqyss Grooming Products - Summer Defense Marigold Horse Spray
It's a natural botanical spray that actually works (pesticide free). It works up to 8 hours and is non toxic, pesticide free and alcohol free. It won't burn eyes.

* There are pet products w/ essential oils that naturally repel bugs. Look for these ingredients in shampoos and spritzers:CEDARWOOD, CITRONELLA, LEMONGRASS,PENNYROYAL TEA TREE OIL,GERANIUM, CATNIP. (Preliminary studies have shown catnip oil to be 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitos! ) and EUCALYPTUS OIL
