To be honest with you, most people do not pay any attention to the favors or take them home with them so in my experience the best favors are little chocolates or the like.
We did want to do actual little take-home favors, so I purchased wine bottle stoppers, wrapped them individually, and labeled them for each guest/family. I had someone manning the favor table, and everyone stopped by to get their "gift" after they went through the serving line. We didn't find a single one left behind!
