My Cavalier was pediatrically neutered at 10 weeks. It is a controversial practice, but some breeders do it to ensure that their dogs sold as pets aren't bred or shown. Breeders are very protective of their lines!

I haven't had any side effects from it, he squats constantly, and just learned to lift his leg at 15 months and he still is so awkwardly cute when he tries to get that leg up - so he mostly squats and he has never humped anything or anyone. My vet says that the early neuters have no more risks then regular neutering for small breeds. Its large breeds that need the hormones for healthy bones...
