It's shocking isn't it? When a girl found Madison, and called me, I was SURE that he was either stolen or lost....b/c in my mind, WHO would just abandon a cute sweet little dog like a Yorkie? I spent DAYS, Weeks even, looking and trying to locate his "owners". The area he was found in was not a very good area and is mostly (maybe completely) Hispanic and apparently, well known for puppy mills (I'm not familiar with the area she found him, which is near here, but I've never ventured that direction very much).
The shelters I contacted and a couple of vets said he most likely had been abandoned b/c he had some health issues and couldn't be used as a stud nor sold as a puppy anymore, so they just left him.

You wonder, don't you, what goes on in some people's heads that would make it ok to take a sweet, trusting little dog, leave him somewhere strange, with no food or shelter (IN THE DESERT) where there's coyotes and heaven only knows what...LOTS of BIG dogs running in packs out in that area. to fend for himself. I know someone who actually carts WATER out that way for these dogs who are homeless.....so, big winds, no water, coyotes and packs of hungry, thirsty big dogs, garbage, cars, rotten food his only hope.....it's a miracle this little guy survived. And every time I look at him, I think "I hope whoever left him thinks about him EVERY DAY and wonders what happened to him and feels GUILTY and ASHAMED of themselves".

Of course, his story is only one of millions, and that's the real tragedy.
