I'm on a crusade against fleas myself! I talked to the vet and I've been all over the internet.
When you apply any topical it cannot be right after a bath. The flea medicine distributes itself through oils on your pets skin and hair so if you've just bathed them then there may not be enough oil for the med to work well.
In my area the fleas have built up a resistance to the Frontline products. Revolution has heartworm preventative in it and my vet says it works great. She also recommends Comfortis which is a pill. Capstar is a pill that kills all of the fleas on your pet but only lasts for about 24 hrs.. The same with Dawn dish soap. Dawn will kill fleas but if you have not treated your yard then you will have fleas again within 48 hrs. or so. At least that was my experience.
My Ginger(she's my yorkie baby) may be pregnant so I'm trying not to use poisons on her but I'm going to use Comfortis on my other dogs and Advantage on the cat. I tried rubbing Ginger down with brewer's yeast but it didn't work so don't bother going there if you've heard of that.
I bought diatomaceous earth to use outside and on the carpet and furniture (sprinkle on carpet and furniture-leave for 24 hrs-then vacuum). If it doesn't work I'm resorting to Sevin Dust outside and flea bombs inside.
Good luck!
