sad news hello everyone its been a long time since i was here, i lost the address but somehow today i recieved a mail maybe it was a sign... i dont know if you remember me and millie milo and max, millie was born with a liver shunt and i paid a lot of money to get her fixed the operation was a wonderful success and she became a puppy again , she was the life and soul of the house but she was also the little boss of my other 2 dogs milo a red and white border collie and max a male yorkie anyway it has been a horrible month millie took ill on the 9th of june vomiting we thought it was just a tummy upset but as the night wore on she started to bring back the water that she was drinking and loking weak so i rang the emergency vets they told me to take her in so i did at a cost of 100 pounds just for the call out as it was after hours and the emergency vet was in another town so id have to get her there and meet them at the surgery so off we went , millie wrapped in her blanket my mother holding her while i drove and my husband gave directions anyway at the surgery the vet checked her over gave her some shots to stop her vomiting then took her temp the thermometre when removed was covered in blood then she threw up again and there was blood in the water, not a good sign so she said she would get her on a drip for fluids and gave her some pain relief as she was making little groanng sounds when you toched her tummy the vet said the pancrea was extreeml;y swollen so with me acting as vetinary nurse we tried with the drip poor millies veins had started to collapse but we managed to get it in she was very weak at this stage she was going down hill fast the vet wanted to take blood tests but in her condition she didnt want to put her through the full lot so we took a small amount for glucose test and they klept her in the hospital overnight as she was too ill to move they sedated her and put her in a small birdcage so she couldnt move around too much the vet told me she was critical and to prepare for the worse but me knowing her thought she would get through it no problem she is a fighter... as i said goodbye millie sat up suddenly and looked at my usband a quick glance then she looked at me really focasing on my face she stared at me with an expression that said thankyou mom im ok now i ruffled her hair with my finger through the bars and she layed down to sleep, that was the last time i saw her , the vet rang me at 7 30 am to say millie picked up for 20 minutes during the night then continued to get worse she said the blood work came back and it was bad news millie was a full diabetic, so they had given her insulin but itwasnt having any effect they said her chances of recovering this time were very slim and to be truthful they felt that it would be better to euthenise her as she had been through a lot and she was very weak and then the long term diabetic thing would be hard to keep under control in such a small dog as millie they said in all fairness to millie and to us it would be kinder to let her go with dignaty so millie was euthenised on the 10th of june 2008 it has broken my heart and im sat crying here as i write this to you all but we all went through so much with her and then for this to happen i would have fought on to save her but i think millie knew i think she said her good bye to me in that one look that she took and now i hope shes waiting for me at rainbow bridge with her sister mitzie and friends nala and quin we all miss her dearly she was 4 and a half yrs old god love and keep you safe millie until we meet again love mum milo max and family |
