Thanks for all the compliments on the photos . . . the third picture definitely shows my two favorite subjects.
I use a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and I have a few different lenses. On all three of these pictures, I used a 70-210mm f/4 lens that is from about 1989, and it still takes great photos.
To get this kind of color and detail, in most applications you should really look at getting a digital SLR whether from Canon or from a good competitor like Nikon. The small point-and-shoot cameras are convenient, but they just don't have the speed, resolution, and flexibility to capture everything.
