the problem is that some vets treat all dogs the same, but i think you have to be really sensitive to the breed. remember that yorkies have hair, not fur, so they need to be groomed often. I would not go more than 3 months without giving archie a bath (although i've never actually gone 3 months without giving archie a bath...he bathes when he gets dirty, which is approx. once a week). Either way, he has to be brushed everyday just like you would brush your hair everyday.
As for food, yorkies are picky eaters. I was told to leave food out for him all day instead of only giving food to him for certain periods of time. Archie eats really early in the morning, and at about 11 PM. Also, dogs don't starve themselves if they don't like the food, like cats do. If your dog refuses to eat, I would take him to a vet that tells me how I can get him to eat rather than tell me to ignore the problem for four days. At 6 months old, 20 minutes is an eternity to yorkies. |
