Maya my pom had that a couple of weeks ago of course on a Sunday so I called Animal er and they said oh don't wait until Monday she is in pain. So I took her in and they gave me ointment. Seriously she did not lool like it was painful just irratated, I was kind of mad becasue it cost me a fortune and I also mentioned she seemed conjested and couldn't lay down comfortably and they said she was ok. 2 days later she couldn't breath so I took her to my regular vet and she was in full blown conjestive heart failure, which they totally missed. I sometimes think they make you feel bad so you will bring them in and spend a fortune for something that could wait until regular vet hours. Maya's eye was fine the next day so I think you can wait and just use the compresses on her eye. None of my others or myself caught it so I wouldn't worry
