Desiree vomiting update Does anyone have info on Metranidazole? My 2 1/2 lb. five year old was vomiting and had diarrhea last week. Although she only vomited once last Wed and Thurs, she had abnormal very loose stool Fri - Mon but no more vomiting. She went to a new vet and although I'm not in love with her, there's nothing drastic enough to keep looking further (yet).
Dr. gave her an exam, no dehydration or fever. Nothing wrong on abdominal physical exam. Diagnosed her as very sensitive to food and stress. Nothing new there but no IBS or IBD. Gave her Nutragest (a natural powder with probiotics and ginger ???) Dezi had sensitivity to acidopholous but that didn't stop Dr from recommending it.
She didn't do well with all the dietary changes she was experiencing. I tried rice and burger (boiled and rinsed 10 times) then chicken baby food. I should have known better. It prolonged it but she was in good spirits and had good appetite throughout.
I finally got Dr to prescribe Metranidazole because she got worse and we had to go back the next day. Why didn't she prescribe it in the first place is one of the reasons I don't love Dr yet. She's holistic. So what? Does that mean she couldn't give her some relief before trying herbal stuff? Then she wanted me to start the powder at the same time as the Metranidozole. Too much at once for a sensitive girl, don't you think? I didn't do it and lied when Dr asked for an update. If I didn't know better I'd think she gets a kickback from it.
Dezi is doing great now too. I'm happy but annoyed at the situation. It really scared me to be changing vets at the same time of an emergency. |
