If you are comfortable with the vet's diagnosis, I would follow his/her instructions. If not call her regular vet for a second opinion. When one of our horses scratched an eye, we had to use one type of ointment because there was infection present. When the infection cleared, we used another type of ointment until the scratch healed. That might be the same type of situation with little Layal.
