i had our yorkie male neutered and he was ok in a few days.. we used the e collar.. he might chew out his stitches, and get an infection, so using the collar is the best thing.. my vet was wonderful though and he recovered very quick. he was quiet for 2 days, then back to his normal self.. totally healed in 2 weeks. the collar was used for 5-6 days, and only off when he was being watched.. my male did not have an iv . he got shots before and after for pain.. i love my vet

jumping on furniyure will be ok.. the risk is to the stitches being licked or chewed by himself or another pet in the house.. best wishes..
