I used to be in the same situation with a former BF. We traveled for his job too. We did the kitchenette thing because I hated living where the rest of the crew lived. Some of the guys were single and it was a constant party environment and I preferred a more 'home' type environment. His boss just paid the regular fee he would pay and we took care of the rest. Maybe you could ask. It wouldn't be costing him any more than usual and by eating in instead of out...it might not be much more. You could check around in the area to see what the prices would be.
I wouldn't sneak her in. Nothing good is ever built on a lie. It just causes problems later on down the road.
