Default Need some advice from New Orleans natives

Hi Yorkie Lovers in the South,
I am Marilyn Faughner from Reading, PA. I am the founder of Save A Yorkie Rescue, Inc. and we are having our annual fundraiser in July. This year the theme is Mardi Paws and we are so excited!

I have to make the announcements and greetings. Since I have never been to a Mardi Gras event, I am clueless about what kinds of things to say.

I guess there is some french mixed in and maybe there are some traditional sayings....

Could anyone help me with a little dialogue? Some things that people down there say around Mardi Gras?

I could tell you that up here we chow down on fasnaughts near Lent and we eat a lot of pot pie all the time - we are Pennsylvania Dutch country and food is very important in this area.

If you could give me some ideas, I would appreciate it. We have decorations and beads.. we are going to have hundreds of Yorkies and their people here in Reading along with vendors, an auction, a dinner and a rescue parade. It is our largest fund raiser of the year and very important. We pay many thousands of dollars in vet bills for the homeless Yorkies who come to us... so we want to be sure people will come back next year if they have lots of fun...you can see our website at Welcome to Save A Yorkie Rescue, Inc. Thanks so much for any help you can give us.
