Oh now this I can explain! Most diet foods are low in sodium i.e. salt (because sodium causes water retention causes you to weigh more). Most Americans are used to eating food with lots of salt on it. I know I was. So they put the bell pepper and the spices in it because hot spices, bell pepper, or lemon will sometimes mimic the flavor of salt (or at least cover up the LACK of salt). I'm on the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover and I can't have any added sodium. Let me tell you that the only thing that saved me at first was hot spices. Otherwise I would have given up on just plain chicken. AND another bonus is the spices help me drink my 100 oz of water a day.
