I insisted that we buy this big old house because it had character, it was stuck in a 1940's mode, and nothing had been done to it since then. But we persevered , and it has turned into a beautiful home.
Remember the movie the money pit? Well, that's us.
My husband just asked the other day if I would like him to build a new home, and I said no way, we've put too much blood sweat and tears into this one.
Good luck with your tub

Yes, we live in an old farmhouse. It is very pretty and full of charm, but we haven't done much to it since we moved in. Right before we moved in, we went through the whole house and redid everything! Well, it's been 13 yrs and it's time to do it again.
We are also putting in new floors in the kitchen and hallway, refinishing the hardwood floors in the living room, dining room and master bedroom. We're putting new carpeting in the upstairs bedrooms, all new windows and maybe doors and hopefully, refacing the kitchen cabinets. Oh and I'm getting new appliances. I'm long overdue for those. I can't wait for it all to be finished.
So how has your tub held up? That was another concern of my husband. He such turkey sometimes. When he gets an idea in head, it's stuck in there!
I would love to build a new home, but the market really stinks right now. Which really if your buying and selling shouldn't be a big deal, but I'm afraid we'd sit on this house forever if we put it on the market right now.
We have approx. 3000 sq. ft. and when we bought our home, we had 5 children and now they have all left the nest but one. We don't need all this room and I'm tired of the stairs. So hopefully in the next few years, we'll build and I'll get what I want.
Probably more than you needed to know
Thanks again for sharing your experience.
