We also had a silky that traveled with us for 6 months for hubby's job. We were in countless non-pet friendly hotels. We did get caught once and had to pay a fee. We paid it, told them the dog was gone, and brought him back hours later. We just made sure to be a little more careful and stayed at this particular hotel for another month with no problems. It may seem wrong to some people, but it's what we did and I don't feel bad. Good luck with your decision. If you go into it expecting to have to pay a fee if you get caught and knowing that you have your parent's as a back-up plan, I say go for it. Also, make sure that you can't be kicked out of your place over this and that you'll only have to be a fee to pay
