I didn't know about any rule of thumb when I crate trained Buddy four yrs.
ago. He was able to hold it by 5 1/2 mos. for 8 1/2 hrs. I walked him
twice in the am 6 & 8 before leaving for work. Today he has gone to 9
hrs with no problem when we sleep late at times on the weekend.
Then when we go right out when getting up he's even fussy where he
want's to pee taking his time until he finds the right spot.
He is a larger Yorkie at 16lbs but when he was 5 1/2 mos he weighed
only 7lbs. He's got a great bladder. Of course I never let him hold it
when I'm home. We're out walking every 4 or 5 hrs because I love to walk.
He has never gone potty in the house after he was trained. |
