Royal Canin is ok, but it does contain many byproducts and rendered meat ingredients...There are much better kibble products out there that are pallatable. Yorkie's are notoriously finicky and don't eat much - don't allow your dog to train you!
People on YT seem to like the holistic brands Wellness, Orijen and Solid Gold for kibble. Poke around for reviews and more brands that contain whole food ingredients and not chemicals and preservatives that are poisonous over time.
What I mean is, human guilt or fear about them not eating enough send us to give them goodies off our plate. Hold out on the dog and do not fill him up with treats. Firm boundaries will pay off! Dogs have an innate survival instinct, they will not starve themselves.
That said, if you are serious about homecooking, plenty of people on YT do this successfully, search for threads on the subject. There are tons of recipes available on the internet and in books available at most booksellers. There is nothing wrong with homecooking as long as it is approached seriously and thoroughly researched.
