I had Scooter nuetered just over a week ago. It cost me $250 at my regular vet. I shopped around and even though my vet was not the cheapest, some of the low-cost places didnt seem as comforting. I love my baby, as everyone on here does, and I dont know what I would do without him. The low-cost places gave you tons of options that you could add or cut out (blood tests, screenings, etc). I don't have a medical background and when I called some of the low-cost places, I didn't like thier answers.

I also called the vets that some of my co-workers go to in order to find out what they would charge me. They were going to charge me new patient fees since I had never been there before and would need to do more preliminary stuff. By the time I added up the new fees with the nuetering from the recommended vets, it would have cost me the same as it was to stay at my vet which I trust.

I say analyze the cost but be sure to weigh it with your comfort level and your feelings about the vet. By choosing my vet, I was able to stay at work and not worry out of my mind that something was going to happen and he would never be the same. He is doing great and I don't regret the decision.

Good luck.
