I have the book also. When Sadie came home with us, it was winter. We wanted to train indoors untill it was warm out.

We got a used (Small) baby play pen. I put puppy pads in it and I put a paper towel with some on my other dogs pee and poo on it in there so she would smell it. She went as soon as she got home and continued to do so every time we put her in there. It was the potty.

Now it is warm and we have her going out side in an xpen type thing. (Plastic baby play yard. My dogs know potty time and hardly ever have accidents.

Our town has a free shop so I got the play pen for free from there but any second hand store has them for pretty cheap.
