I have to say I feel your pain. We just got our first puppy trained and then I found Tag. He does the same thing your puppy is doing with the exception of hiding. I try really hard not to react when he has an accident so he won't hide. I also am trying to hold him when I know it's close to time for him to potty. When he gets squirmy I take him out. I hope this helps but I am truly a novice when it comes to this.
