I do ultrasound at 30-32 days. The main purpose is to confirm pregnancy and to check for heart beats with each puppy. they can tell from the rhythm and speed if the puppy is normal for that age, in distress or not viable (reabsorbed or dead).
There is a vet at my vet's office I wouldn't see even for a shot. But I still go there because there are two others who are excellent with this breed. I always specify who I want when I make my appts.
