From your story, your vet really didn't know what was wrong with her, is that right? If so, I'd try another vet. It's so important to know if what you are dealing with is hypoglycemia, or something else.

I would guess your vet doesn't want to stress her out, so doesn't want anyone handling her. Still, you need to stay bonded with her. I have some little fleece squares of cloth that I wrap around my puppies sometimes to hold them close and make them feel secure. Perhaps your Riley will let you hold her for awhile if you wrap her in something soft and just hold her close. You might try this and then assess whether it stresses her out too much. If so, you may have to wait until she settles down again to get close to her.
