I was just diagnosed with low thyroid and started on synthroid 0.125 per day. I didn't have any symptoms, but my thyroid has been running low normal for a few years, and now is it showing low. I've been on the medication about a month now and I think I have more energy and feel better, although I didn't really feel badly before, just a little tired.

It is important to take calcium and vitamin D. BUT you must not take the calcium within four hours of the synthroid because calcium interferes with the absorption of synthroid. So, if you take your synthroid at 7:00AM, you should not take calcium (or eat calcium rich food) until 11:00AM.

It is also important to take synthroid on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before eating.

That's about all I know, hopefully someone will give both of us some good advice.
