First, that picture of Sophie is REALLY cute!

What do you mean by stairs not being closed? My steps have a banister with spindles on one side and at the top the landing has the same banister that runs the length of the "bridge", the spaces between each spindle on the bridge is easy for a little dog to fit through and the drop would be 10 feet!
