Seizures and not urniating Hello! I am new to this forum but have been looking through the list of health questions for days and decided to tell you my story. Maybe someone will be able to help me. I have a beautiful new puppy, Riley. She is 9 weeks old and is teacup yorkie/maltipoo mix. My sister-n-law gave her to me a few weeks ago. The first couple of weeks were AWESOME! We instantly fell in love with her. I got her first set of shots and noticed she was tired and sore the next day but otherwise healthy. Then 4 days later we awoke to find her breathing very labored. First, I gave her syrup because I had been warned about hypoglycemia. Next, I rushed her to my vet. They checked her glucose level which was fine (but I had just given her syrup) ran a few x-rays ( I didn't know if maybe she had been stepped on) and gave her a steriod shot for breathing. They sent her back home with me. I was going crazy with worry because she was fine the night before and had been in her crate all night. Well, a few hours after arriving home she still wasn't breathing any better. So, I rushed her back to the vet and when I pulled in the parking lot she had her first seizure. She started chomping her jaws, foaming at the mouth, urinating and defacating on herself. This only lasted about 30 seconds. Then immediately after that she takes off running back and forth as fast as she can then she kinda falls over. They kept her in the hospital for about 5 days. At one point she was having one seizure about every hour or so. I brought her home on a Friday thought maybe she was just hypoglycemic made sure she ate every couple of hours but then she started having seizures again Saturday night. She had about 10 before I stopped counting. She was very tired, depressed, and dehydrated. I took her back to the vet and he kept her another 5 days. This time he did give her a low dose of anti-seizure medicine (she weighs 1.5 lbs) Picked her up yesterday and it's amazing. She looks 100% better. However, the vet told me she doesnt' want anyone to touch her. She starts barking and biting you if you touch her. She even bit her own leg and started bleeding. (Ouch) Thought maybe she was just scared of people because she has been poked and proded so much at the vet. But then I noticed that she is not urinating. She has only urinated one time since I brought her home yesterday. Is that normal? Also, the vet said that her running around really fast was not part of the seizures. What do you think? |
