Thanks, I'll try to get some photos this weekend. And thanks to the yorkie owner who posted the previous thread about a websits re: judging, that's helpful. My yorkie is 11" x 11". The good news is that she has stopped growing in height, but we'll see how much weight she puts on. I as currently showing her at a dog show in our city. The first judge said nothing adn seemed happy with her. The judge this morning said that she is large for a puppy and that I'll have to wait to see how much weight she puts on when she fills out. But she should weigh about 7.5 lbs full grown. The breeder said that the Westminster yorkies were 9 - 9.5 lbs and I suppose that it will depend on the judge. Waiting until her coat grows to the floor to show her again is also a good plan. Thanks, all!

The question of "square" was raised and is legitimate. Though it is not in the official standard, it is discussed in the YTCA's publication, Illustrated Discussion of the Yorkshire Terrier, which reads "The Yorkshire Terrier is a sound, well balanced, compact, neat, square appearing dog though there is little or nothing specific in our standard describing the length of the neck, type, placement, carriage of , etc."
Liz we would love to see pictures...that's sort of mandatory around here! |
