When I bathe Zoey I used a wash cloth lathered up with the shampoo to wash her face. When I get to the eye boogie section once the hair is damp I use a small fine tooth comb to comb through the area and remove the boogies completely.
If you find that the beard gets dirty fast then I suggest either trimming it or using a wash cloth daily to get it all wiped up.
