I just had Zoey spayed and paid $351. It was for the spay, office visit, blood work, iv, pain meds to come home, post surgical check to remove the sutures, antibiotics and her heartworm pills for six months....ooh and they plucked a few teeth while she was under.
I was going to get her chipped but I got a bit iffy about that after reading a post here about a cancer study.
It amazes me how much the stuff adds up to. It oculd have been worse had she been larger. My friend took her dog to my vet for a consult and her vaccination. Well her spay alone is $299 (she is 20 lbs), plus another $125 for the dental plus something else she had wanted....it was going to be like $500 and some change. Mind you my vet is very moderately priced.
