It depends on what you are doing and how clean the shelter is. I work at a shelter. I wash my hands a lot, between each animal I touch. I do not bring my shoes in my house and I change my clothes either at work or right when I get home. I don't let my dogs amd cats near me until I change and wash my hands again. As long as you take precautions you should be okay. I worry about parvo, coccidia, distemper, worms, fleas, etc. We have volunteers and they have never taken anything home. Nor have we. Shelters really appreciate all the help we can get. The animals benefit from people like you. Thanks!
