The yelping is suppose to remind the dog not to bite too hard, such as when his littermates played. SO when you yelp, the dog knows not to bite that hard. ALSO ignoring him and turning away, arms crossed is suppose to work well.
the show, it's me or the dog, uses these training tactics.
