Is there a reason you can't go just to see her before 5? Or are they trying to keep her calm? Remember that people making the phone calls are often "vague" on purpose. I worked in an ER (not a nurse) and often had to make phone calls to families. They always wanted us to be emotionless and never offer anything to cause them to "insinuate" something from the conversation. I most likely was terrible at that job, because I just couldn't do that very well and figured being emotionless said even more that often caused more distress for no reason.
Maya has no idea how much support she has today. But you do.
