Blood Test Results Show Slightly Elevated Kidney Enzyme One of the vets from the clinic we take Angel to left a message on my machine. I called her back but she was busy and hasn't returned my call yet. Angel had a wellness blood test. She said that everything looks quite good except one of the kidney enzymes is slightly elevated, but the other one is normal. She said Angel's is 11.1 and the norm is 10.0. It could be insignificant and causes could be dehydration or a high protein meal. She suggested checking Angel's urine (first morning sample) to see if she is concentrating her urine properly. What does "concentrating her urine" mean? If it isn't, what could this mean?
What are the kidney enzymes...creatinine/BUN? We think maybe she was/is dehydrated. She doesn't drink a lot of water. It was hot the day I took her to the vet to withdraw blood, but I had the A/C on in the car. How long would she have to be dehydrated for it to show up in the results? We feed her Wellness Super5Mix Whitefish & Sweet Potato, which has 22% crude protein. We hardly ever give her treats. When we do, we give her apples, rice or Pure Bites freeze dried beef liver treats. How would we get a urine sample?
Thanks. |
