in my opinion, the runt is the one who gets pushed away when nursing.. they may lose interest in eating.. its like ...survival of the fittest ..when they are young.. i had to feed my runt extra food separate from the pack because he wasnt willing to be an aggressor at meal time.. small puppies may get hypoglycemia....
the pick of the litter is the favorite.. most outgoing and the first one to do things... jmo
