We had Spike neutered young and he has never marked- has never even lifted his leg to potty. I got Sugar as an intact adult and he marked like crazy. After neutering he stopped marking in the house but does mark outside. I also have a little girl.
IMO boys are the BEST! Spike is my daughter's and he loves everyone but he is so loyal to her. You can read my signature to see how I feel about Sugar.
At my house at least the boys are the little lovebugs and lapdogs. Gracie, our female, is not a lapdog by any stretch of the imagination. She gets indignant at the mere hint of babytalk.
ETA- I just recently learned here at YT that intact females will mark. Gracie is spayed but she feels the need to potty about a million times while on walks so I guess she is marking. The boys don't go on walks so I don't know what they would do.
